St Paul’s Bay, Buġibba and Qawra run into one another, but they do not offer identical meals. Traditional St Paul’s Bay feels more residential around the old bay, Buġibba has the busiest tourist centre, and Qawra stretches along a resort promenade.

How the adjoining areas differ

Choose old St Paul’s Bay for a quieter bay or neighbourhood meal, though distances to the tourist centre can be longer than visitors expect. Buġibba Square and nearby streets concentrate casual restaurants, bars and family activity; expect noise and seasonal crowds. Qawra’s promenade and hotel zone suit sea-facing walks and resort dining, but some restaurants are hotel facilities and may prioritise residents or restrict particular services.

Bus routes serve the whole area, but stops and journey times differ. Street parking is difficult on busy evenings; select a car park or use a taxi rather than circling after the reservation time.

Before choosing a seafront or hotel restaurant

Open the current menu and hours, then ask which tables have the advertised view. Confirm whether non-residents may book, whether a buffet is operating on your date, and whether children’s or dietary options must be requested in advance. Ask about step-free entrance, lifts and toilets.

Daily fish and specials may be priced differently from the core menu. Ask whether the price is per portion or by weight. Record deposits, cancellation rules and the last kitchen order. Compare the wider waterfront restaurant guide, family restaurants and gluten-free Malta.
