Tallinja Bike Malta: Prices, Stations & How to Rent
Use Malta Public Transport's Tallinja Bike service with current pay-per-use prices, packages, docking locations and return rules.
Tallinja Bike is Malta Public Transport's docked electric-bike service. A bike is collected from one station and must be returned securely to a docking station when the ride is finished. Check the official Tallinja Bike page for current prices, station locations and rental conditions.
It is not a free-floating service: charges can continue if the bike is left away from a dock or is not correctly returned.
How to rent a Tallinja Bike
- Use the digital screen at a docking station.
- Create an account or sign in.
- Enter the required card details; the official service page says a reimbursable €1 verification charge is applied.
- Select an available bike and unlock it.
- Check the brakes, tyres, saddle and lights before leaving.
- Return it to a valid station and confirm that it has locked into the dock.
Take a photograph or screenshot of the successful return confirmation. If the dock does not recognise the bike, contact the service before walking away.

Malta Public Transport currently lists stations in Malta at:
- Valletta Terminal
- Barrakka Lift
- Valletta Waterfront
- St Julian's
- Pembroke
- University of Malta
- Bombi
- G. F. Abela Junior College
- Centerparc Shopping Complex in Qormi
In Gozo, stations are listed at:
- Mġarr
- Victoria
- Marsalforn
Station availability can change and a full dock may prevent immediate return. Check the service screen before relying on a particular station for a time-sensitive journey.
Time limits and extra charges
The official service page states that each rental has a 24-hour limit and that penalty charges apply if a bike is not returned within that time.
Packages do not mean that a bike can be kept indefinitely or left outside a dock. Read the terms shown during purchase and return the bike whenever it is not being used.
Before riding
Electric assistance does not remove the need to ride safely. Wear a helmet, start at a low assistance level and test the brakes before entering traffic.
Malta drives on the left. Avoid crowded pavements, follow road and cycle signs, and do not assume motorists have seen you.

Tallinja cards and public transport
A personalised Tallinja card can reduce Tallinja Bike charges, but bicycle use is not included in the free regular-bus travel scheme.
Read our Tallinja card guide for card eligibility. If combining bike and bus, remember that ordinary bicycles are not carried on scheduled buses; only suitable folded bicycles may be accepted under the operator's conditions and at the driver's discretion.
