Sailing and rowing use Malta’s coastline in very different ways. Dinghy sailing begins with boat handling and wind; rowing focuses on technique, crew timing and water conditions. Both require a recognised beginner route rather than informal access to a boat.

A complete beginner should request the named introductory course, age band, first session date and progression route; an affiliated club does not necessarily operate beginner intake throughout the year.

State swimming ability and physical needs

Separate course fee, membership, federation registration, equipment, boat use, storage and competition. Ask what is provided during the beginner stage and what must be bought later. Do not purchase specialist equipment until the instructor confirms the correct type and size.

Ask how wind or unsafe weather cancellation affects the price: refund, rescheduled water session or substituted land training. Compare the full course with later club membership, equipment and storage costs, because a low introductory fee does not represent the annual commitment.
